Your Child's Journey at daar

How we support your child

Early communication (0-3 years)

Gentle support for your little one's first words and early communication. We use favourite toys, songs, and games to make learning natural and fun.

Clear speech development (All Ages)

Turn practice into play with engaging activities your child will love. We use games, stories, and fun exercises to help with speech sounds.

School success support

Build strong foundations for reading, writing, and classroom confidence. We work closely with your child's teachers and provide practical strategies for school tasks. Sessions focus on both skills and confidence.

Social communication skills

Develop friendship and conversation skills through fun group activities. We create comfortable spaces for practice, using your child's interests to make learning enjoyable. Perfect for building classroom and playground confidence.

Getting started together

Your first visit is all about getting to know your child. In this session, we'll play, chat, and observe how your child communicates. You'll leave with a clear plan and simple strategies to try at home.

Weekly sessions

Regular sessions keep things fun and build momentum. We use play-based activities that feel like games but build essential skills. You'll be involved throughout, learning to support progress between visits.

Home practice made easy

Turn everyday moments into learning opportunities. We'll show you simple ways to support your child's communication during normal routines - from breakfast time to bedtime stories.

Flexible & hassle-free therapy

We make accessing support easy with therapy available at home, school, in-clinic, or online. No matter your schedule, we ensure your child gets the care they need, where it works best for them.

EVERY STEP IS WORTH CELEBRATING

Understanding Communication Milestones

Every child develops at their own pace. Here's a guide to communication milestones that can help you understand your child's journey.

Baby Steps (0-12 months)

First smiles, coos, and babbles. Responding to familiar voices and beginning to understand simple words like "no" and "bye-bye".

Toddler Talk (1-2 years)

First words appear. Using gestures to communicate. Understanding simple instructions and beginning to put two words together.

Preschool Chat (2-4 years)

Sentences grow longer. Asking questions. Telling simple stories. Playing with other children and sharing ideas.

School Ready (4-5 years)

Having conversations. Understanding complex instructions. Getting ready for reading and writing adventures.

Information for parents

What happens in a typical session?

Sessions are 30-45 minutes of play-based activities tailored to your child's interests. You'll be involved throughout, learning techniques to use at home. We make everything feel like fun games while building essential skills.

How long will my child need therapy?

Every child progresses at their own pace. After your first visit, we'll discuss a recommended program based on your child's needs. We regularly review progress and adjust plans accordingly.

What about costs and funding?

We accept NDIS, Medicare (with a GP plan), and most private health funds. We'll explain all payment options during your first call so you can choose what works best for your family.

When can we start?

We have sessions available this week. Call us for a chat about your child's needs - we'll help you choose between home visits or clinic sessions, and match you with the right speech pathologist for your family.

What ages do you work with?

We support children from 0-18 years, with speech pathologists experienced in early intervention (0-3), preschool years (3-5), and school-age support. Each age group has specially designed activities.

What should we bring to the first visit?

Just bring your child and any favourite toys they love. If you have reports from other professionals, these can be helpful but aren't essential. We'll provide everything needed for the session.

We make speech therapy simple, warm, and fun. Book an appointment today!
